Hotsync Problems After Upgrading to New Palm Unit

Several users have reported problems after upgrading to a new Palm Unit, i.e., replacing their older unit with a newer model and simply hotsyncing to take over the identity of the old model.

In some cases, it appears that incompatible system files are loaded on the new unit, possibly causing the problem. One file in particular, ConnectionDB.pdb may cause this problem.

Those same users reported success in fixing the problem by:

  1. Going to the backup directory on the PC for the profile in question and deleting the "ConnectionDb.pdb" file.
  2. Hard reset the new unit.
  3. Hotsync and assume the identity of the old unit.
